Pt was on excavator when tree limb fell, hit the tracks and shot up to the cab. Limb enter on the interior left leg just above the knee and exited upper left lateral thigh. Pt was pinned to door. Pt cut seatbelt to use as tourniquet but only applied enough pressure to slow bleeding til EMS arrival. All pt vitals stable. Pt extracted with help of fire department and transport led to level one trauma center. Pt had missed all arteries, veins, and femur. Pt expected to make full recovery.

update from previous post. Pictures taken during fitting and placement of prosthetic. Upon evaluation pt is fully functional in all daily activities. Pt can string beads and tie her own shows with her residual limb. Prosthetic was brought down to Nicaragua for 6 yoF with congenital residual limb. It was determined that pt is fully independent, pt did not have the wrist strength or active flexion to produce prosthetic MP or IP movement. Prosthetic was brought back to the US for further research.
