Pt is a 50yr old male with diabetes and hx of HTN. Presented to the ED with SOB, lethargic, dry cough, temp of 103, and was about a 7 on the MEWS scale. Respiratory panel done to r/o everything else, was negative. Decided to test for COVID-19, results came back negative. Admitted pt. for sepsis and pneumonia. Day 4 symptoms have worsened. Remains febrile between 102-104, hypotensive, tachy around 134, and respiration’s between 26-28. Still can’t figure out where the infection is coming from. I strongly feel the COVID test could’ve been a false negative, but they are refusing to test him again. Any suggestions?
