Quarter? I successfully swallowed a quarter at that age.
Your absolutely right!!
I was going to say one of those coin-like batteries. See a lot of those also.
yeah..I had one patient..I thought it was a coin but instead was a large battery upon extraction
Good case and image. Speaking of the conversation above, I've always been intrigued by the paeds ENT emergency of a coin-shaped battery getting stuck in a child's oesophagus and the acidic leak then eroding through into nearby structures, possibly causing airway compromise. Have you seen such a case before?
I've definitely seen airway obstruction, but they've always immediately scoped and removed before acid leak.
It looks like there is something else. Near the top? It looks like a tooth-shaped push pin.
An earing :)
Oh! Yep. 😊
It seems like a coin and the up one is like a pin
5 year old??? I'd say 15 yr old, considering dental development 🤔
by development maybe but she isnt... 😊
Crazy. She already has her 12 year molars and wisdom tooth buds.
Important to note that because the coin is seen in side profile it is in the esophagus. If it would be seen on front profile from lateral view, it would be in the trachea.
